yoga etiquette

The definition of Namaste is both a physical gesture and a spoken spiritual salutation, which is the recognition of the divine spirit (or soul) in another by the divine spirit in you. The word Namaste literally translates as “I bow to the divine in you”. In simple terms by saying Namaste we acknowledge and respect the peace and divinity of ourselves and those around us.
We come to yoga to create peace within ourselves so that we can be better people to those around us. By creating peace for ourselves, we also respect the peace and tranquility of others.

To enhance this theme of Namaste, the following is respected at Yoga Lova…

Punctuality

Yoga is a discipline which requires presence of mind from the beginning of class until the end of practice. Therefore, to get the full benefit of yoga, punctuality is essential.  By arriving late, you not only compromise your peace and tranquility but also of those around you.  Furthermore, when you arrive more than 10 minutes late for class, you miss the essential warm up to prepare your muscles for all the asanas, thus compromising the health of your body.  If you do arrive late, please enter the studio quietly and calmly, so that you do not disturb those around you.

Disruptions during class

Yoga Lova is a cell free environment. Please leave your cellphones outside the studio during class times. Please keep disruptions and class chatter to a minimum in class.
